The Carlson team along with FGM Architects was selected to provide construction management at risk and design services for the addition and renovation of the existing fire station #1 for the Braidwood Fire Protection District.
The additions consisted of 14,500 square feet of a new quarters-area and two apparatus bays, a five-story training tower, vehicle display museum, and bell tower. The renovation consisted of completely gutting and reconstructing the existing 21,000 square foot fire station and converting this to administrative office and training space.
The construction of the new addition as well as the renovation work was completed while maintaining the fire operations in service. This phased scheduling system required close communications with the district personnel as well as effective long term planning and scheduling.
